Driving in the West Shore
Victoria isn’t just one city. Driving in the West Shore—Langford, Colwood, and Metchosin—has its own unique rhythm. You have the rapid development along Goldstream Avenue, the confusing roundabouts that keep popping up on Bear Mountain, and the busy commute along the Old Island Highway. Vic City Driving School is based right here on Atkins Avenue, so we know these roads better than anyone.
We specialize in preparing students for the road test at the Victoria (Langford) ICBC centre. Why drive all the way to McKenzie for lessons when your test will likely be on the Veterans Memorial Parkway? We train you on the exact routes you will be tested on.
Conquering the “Colwood Crawl”
One of the biggest anxieties for new drivers is merging onto the Trans-Canada Highway during rush hour—the infamous “Colwood Crawl.” Our lessons focus heavily on highway merging confidence, maintaining safe following distances, and understanding lane discipline when the traffic volume spikes.
Roundabout Experts
Langford loves roundabouts. From the small residential ones to the multi-lane circles near Costco, they are everywhere. Many students fail their road test simply because they don’t know how to signal properly in a roundabout. We make sure you master this essential West Shore skill in your very first lesson.

FAQ
🗺 Do you go to Downtown Victoria?
While our focus is the West Shore, we absolutely take students into town to practice on one-way streets and busier urban environments. It’s important to be well-rounded.
📅 How long are the lessons?
Our standard lessons are 60 minutes, but we highly recommend our 90-minute intermediate sessions. That extra half-hour allows us to drive further and cover more complex scenarios without rushing.
🚗 Can I use your car for the test?
Yes. Our Road Test package includes a warm-up drive and the use of our dual-control vehicle for the exam. It’s much safer and gives the examiner peace of mind.
