About This School

Pacific Driving School has been serving Vancouver’s diverse community from our West Broadway location since 2001. We pride ourselves on being more than just a driving school – we’re your partners in building confidence and safety on BC roads. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to accessibility and cultural understanding. Our team of certified instructors speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, and Hindi, ensuring that language is never a barrier to quality driver education. Located on West Broadway near Cambie Street, we’re easily accessible via bus routes 9 and 99 B-Line, making us convenient for students throughout Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and Surrey. We understand that Vancouver’s driving environment presents unique challenges: heavy rain nine months of the year, aggressive cycling culture, complex one-way systems downtown, bridges with steep inclines, and some of Canada’s most congested traffic. Our instructors don’t just teach you to pass the ICBC road test – they prepare you for real-world Vancouver driving with confidence and competence. We specialize in working with nervous beginners, new immigrants adjusting to Canadian driving culture, and busy adults who need flexible scheduling. With extended hours seven days a week including evenings, we accommodate students with work and school commitments. Our approach is patient, personalized, and focused on your individual learning pace. We believe everyone deserves quality driver education regardless of budget, which is why we offer competitive rates without compromising on instruction quality. Whether you’re starting fresh with your Class 7 Learner’s or preparing for your Class 5 full license, Pacific Driving School provides the support, expertise, and cultural sensitivity to help you succeed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take lessons in my native language?Absolutely! We offer full instruction in English, Mandarin (Simplified and Traditional), Cantonese, Punjabi, and Hindi. All our multilingual instructors are fully ICBC-certified and fluent in both their native language and English. This ensures you understand every safety concept clearly and can ask questions comfortably.

I’m new to Canada. How do you help newcomers? Our New Immigrant Welcome package is specifically designed for people new to BC. We start with a comprehensive orientation covering how Canadian driving differs from other countries, explain BC’s graduated licensing system in detail, review traffic signs and road markings you may be unfamiliar with, and provide culturally sensitive instruction. Many of our instructors are immigrants themselves and understand the adjustment process.

How flexible is your scheduling?Very flexible! We’re open 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm, including evenings and weekends. We understand our students have jobs, school, and family commitments. You can book lessons as early as 8am or as late as 7pm start times. We try to match you with the same instructor consistently, but we’ll work around your schedule even if that means occasional instructor changes.

Which ICBC road test centres do you prepare for?We prepare students for all Metro Vancouver ICBC centres: Vancouver (West 41st), Burnaby (Lougheed), Richmond (Lansdowne), North Vancouver (Capilano), Surrey (Gateway), and Langley. Our instructors know the specific routes, challenging areas, and what examiners at each location look for. We’ll practice at the centre where you plan to take your test.

Do you offer pickup and drop-off for lessons?Yes! We provide complimentary pickup and drop-off within Vancouver, Burnaby, and Richmond. For areas further out (Surrey, North Vancouver, New Westminster), we can arrange pickup for a small additional fee. Just let us know your preferred pickup location when booking.

What if I’m very nervous about driving? Many of our students start out nervous – it’s completely normal! We specialize in working with anxious learners. Our instructors are patient, encouraging, and never rush you. We start in quiet residential areas, build your confidence gradually, and move to busier streets only when you’re ready. Our calm approach has helped hundreds of nervous students become confident drivers.

Can I practice driving Vancouver’s bridges with you?Definitely! Vancouver’s bridges (Lions Gate, Ironworkers, Granville, Burrard) can be intimidating with their steep approaches, narrow lanes, and heavy traffic. Our instructors will take you on all the major bridges multiple times, teaching you the specific techniques needed for each one. This is especially important for Class 5 preparation.

What happens if I need to cancel a lesson? We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. If you cancel with proper notice, we’ll reschedule your lesson at no charge. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice forfeit 50% of the lesson fee. We understand emergencies happen – just call us as soon as possible and we’ll work something out.
