Class 1 Licence Training — Red Deer
King Pin follows Alberta’s Class 1 Pathway Program — a three-tier structure taking you from zero experience to an unrestricted federal Class 1 licence. Training is conducted in trucks with 13- or 18-speed transmissions and takes approximately 4–6 weeks to complete.

Tier 1 Entry Program 40 hrs — online foundational learning $250 mandatory, via AB Gov’t portal Prepares you for the Class 1 knowledge test. Optional in-person support week at King Pin for $700 + GST. |
Tier 2 Core Learning 60 hrs — 1-on-1 in-yard & in-cab $6,550 + GST Ends with the Class 1 road test. Passing earns your restricted Alberta Class 1 licence. |
Tier 3 Competence Building 17–25 hrs — customized 1-on-1 $2,500 + GST Lifts licence restrictions, granting full interprovincial (federal) Class 1 status. |

Alberta Class 1 Pathway Program — What to Expect
Alberta’s Class 1 Pathway Program is the government-structured route to earning your commercial licence. It is divided into three tiers: the Entry Program (online knowledge foundation), Core Learning (60 hours of 1-on-1 in-yard and in-cab training leading to your restricted Alberta Class 1), and Competence Building (17–25 hours of customized training that lifts restrictions and grants interprovincial status). King Pin guides students through all three tiers from our Red Deer location.
