Kami Driving School Kamloops — Pricing, Instructors & Reviews
388 1st Ave #100, Kamloops · Established 2017 · 280+ Google reviews · Class 5 & Class 7
🗣️ English / Hindi / Punjabi
💰 Published Pricing
📅 7 Days a Week
Kami is the most transparent school on this list when it comes to pricing — most Kamloops schools make you call for a quote, but Kami publishes a full rate card. It’s also the largest review base among the independent (non-franchise) schools we looked at in Kamloops: roughly 4.9 out of 5 from more than 280 Google reviews, which is close to double what most of the other independent schools on this list have accumulated.
Two instructors are named across reviews — Akshay and Nirmaljeet Singh — both described as patient and knowledgeable, with a teaching style that adapts to the individual student rather than a single fixed method. Instruction is available in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, which matters in Kamloops given the size of the local Punjabi-speaking community — worth knowing if a learner or parent is more comfortable being taught in one of those languages.
⚠️ Address discrepancy worth noting. Kami’s own website lists 388 1st Ave #100 as its current address, but some older directory listings still show a previous location at 705 Sequoia Place. Confirm the current address directly before heading to a lesson or drop-off.
Published Pricing
This is published pricing from Kami’s own site at time of writing — prices change, so confirm current rates before booking. Worth noting the value curve: the 20-lesson “Brand New Driver” package works out to $62.50 per lesson (still including a free test-day vehicle), noticeably cheaper per-lesson than booking single sessions individually.
What Kami Actually Offers
Defensive Driving Curriculum
Covers hazard avoidance, winter driving, parking, and both highway and downtown driving — a broader curriculum outline than most Kamloops schools publish.
Multilingual Instruction
Lessons available in English, Hindi, and Punjabi — genuinely useful for Kamloops families more comfortable learning in one of those languages, and something most other schools on this list don’t offer.
Bonded, Insured, Licensed
Operates under the BC Motor Vehicle Act with bonding and insurance in place — standard for a legitimate school, but worth confirming for any school you’re considering.
⚠️ Automatic vehicle. Kami’s training vehicle is described as an automatic dual-control car. If you specifically need manual/standard transmission instruction, confirm this directly, since it isn’t advertised as an option.
What the Reviews Actually Show
With 280+ reviews, this is the largest single review base among the independent schools we looked at in Kamloops. Patterns that hold up across that volume:
- Akshay is the most frequently named instructor, consistently described as knowledgeable with a relaxed, low-pressure teaching style that reviewers credit for putting nervous students at ease.
- Value and pricing come up often — reviewers specifically mention the pricing as fair or good, which lines up with Kami being one of the only schools on this list that publishes its rates upfront.
- Accommodating scheduling is a recurring theme, consistent with the school running lessons seven days a week (Sunday by request).
- We found no significant pattern of complaints in what we reviewed, similar to One Way’s consistently positive profile and unlike Henderson’s split reputation.
By the Numbers
Common Questions
Which address is correct — 1st Ave or Sequoia Place?
Kami’s own website currently lists 388 1st Ave #100 as its address. Older directory sites still show a previous Sequoia Place location. Confirm the current address directly with the school before your first lesson.
Which package is the best value?
Based on published pricing, the 20-lesson “Brand New Driver” package works out to the lowest per-lesson cost while including a road-test vehicle. For someone who just wants a few lessons or a refresher, the single-lesson or 5-lesson “Confidence Booster” option makes more sense than overbuying a large package.
Can I take lessons in Punjabi or Hindi?
Yes — instruction is offered in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. Mention your language preference when booking to make sure it’s matched with the right instructor.
Do I need to book the road-test vehicle separately?
It depends on your package — the Road Ready Combo, Learn to Be a Pro, and Brand New Driver packages all include use of a test-day vehicle. If you book single lessons or the 5-lesson package instead, the test vehicle is a separate $125 add-on, subject to availability.
Can I book on a Sunday?
Sunday lessons are available by request rather than as standard scheduled hours — call ahead if you specifically need a Sunday slot.
Who This School Is For
Straight answer: Kami is a strong pick if you want upfront, transparent pricing rather than a mystery quote, if you’d benefit from Hindi or Punjabi instruction, or if you want a large, consistent review base to lean on. Among the independent Kamloops schools on this list, it has both the most reviews and the most publicly available pricing information — which makes it easier to compare against other options before you even make the first call.
The one thing to double-check before booking is the current address, since older listings disagree with the school’s own site. Otherwise, for students who want cost transparency and a well-documented track record, Kami is one of the more straightforward choices in Kamloops.
